ACL is in the early stages of discussions with the University of Lincoln about a research project for Lincolnshire.PUBLIC EDUCATION AND RAISING AWARENESSThrough a promotional programme including media events, press articles, policy papers and presentations – aimed at policy makers and the general public.CAMPAIGNING AND ADVOCACYHaving direct links with and supporting locally the national Age Concern England campaigns which include –• Claim your Benefits – campaigning to promote welfare benefit take up.• Council Tax – increases causing hardship, campaign for affordable council tax bills.• Age Discrimination – new laws provide protection against discrimination in employment, training and education.• Hungry to be Heard – help overcome malnourishment of older people in health and social care settings.• Dignity in Care – all older people receiving care should be confident that their dignity will be respected.• Personal Expenses Allowances – for older people in care homes – is itsufficient, does it help improve quality of life and is it safe?• How to be a Silver Surfer – join the digital revolution by learning how to use a computer and access the internet.• Stamped Out – campaign to retain local Post Offices, particularly in rural areas – they are the centre of village life and a lifeline for older people.• Elder Abuse – help stop abuse: raise awareness and contact Action for Elder abuse for help! |
